For my third and final technology I used a program called Gliffy. This program is similar to our wiki application in which other users are able to access and change or add information. I think it's a wonderful tool to use if you were making a family tree. Each generation could add family names that they remember instead of one person doing all the work. It contains different shapes and templates so any type of chart can be created. I think this will be helpful when a group needs to put together a flow chart and are unable to meet outside the class.

About Me

- Jenny
- Indianapolis, Indiana
- I am a wife and mother of 3 boys. I am a returning student in the process of obtaining my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. I also work part time at a parents day out program in Indy. Most of my free time is spent going to my boys sporting activities. It is definitely our main source of entertainment at this stage in our life. I enjoy it tremendously!! This blog was a little confusing to me. Don't gasp but I don't even have a Facebook account! However, I do have a 13 yr old who can help walk me through if needed.
Me and my family

Jenny, great job with this program. I am taking a Social Work course and we had to create a geneology, this program would have been prefect andmade things so much easier. I think that children beginning about at the 4th or 5th grade level could begin using a program such as gliffy. I will make a note of this site; it will be very valuable to me both now and in the future. Have a good summer.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Tammera. I think this is great! A 4th or 5th grader could do this and learn a lot in the process. A teacher could really do a lot with this.
ReplyDeleteI agree. This is a great tool to use as a teacher. My grandma does genealogy and I think this would be a great tool for her to use when informing my younger cousins and second cousins begin to wonder what our family history is like. You did a great job with this!
ReplyDeleteI have never really done a full geneology of the family name, my parents really want me to do it, and my grandparents have all the information just not in a neat organized form. This would be perfect for that situation. GOod Job!!
